SkyVerdict is an independent editorial site about amateur astronomy — refractor, reflector, Dobsonian and catadioptric telescopes, smart and travel scopes, telescopes bought for children, astronomy binoculars, monoculars and spotting scopes, equatorial, alt-azimuth and GoTo mounts, star trackers, planetary cameras, guide scopes, finder scopes and star projectors — and the eyepieces, zoom eyepieces and eyepiece sets, Barlow lenses, nebula, solar, Moon, light pollution and colour planetary filters, filter wheels, focal reducers, star diagonals, extension tubes, T-ring and phone adapters, collimators, focus masks, red dot finders, polar scopes, dew shields and heaters, cases, covers, red torches, planispheres, counterweights, dovetail bars, observing chairs and eclipse glasses that go with them. It does not cover mirrorless and reflex camera bodies or photographic tripods, portable batteries and solar panels, walking binoculars and head torches, or desk lamps, USB hubs and storage drives, all of which are covered elsewhere; nor observatory installations sold by quotation. Apertures, focal lengths and focal ratios, secondary obstructions, payload ratings, apparent fields, eye reliefs, exit pupils, reflectivities, transmission percentages, back focus distances, barrel and thread sizes, dimensions and weights published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their unit written as published, with their source named, and never derived by us. In particular, a telescope's aperture and the magnification a listing prints are reported as the two distinct quantities they are, and one is never presented as the other — magnification being a division between two focal lengths rather than a property of any instrument. Nothing here replaces a manufacturer's own instructions, the markings on a product, or the rules of the country you are in — and two statements are repeated on every page that touches them: a payload rating describes what a mount will carry while it is being looked through, and is never presented here as a photographic capacity; and no filter, no pair of eclipse glasses and no mounting arrangement is described on this site as making an observation safe.
