A camera-lens filter

This is a 67 mm filter for a camera lens, not a telescope. It suits wide-field night photography, on a tripod or on a star tracker such as the Star Adventurer 2i.

A published band

K&F Concept says it blocks artificial light between about 580 and 610 nm, the yellow-orange band of sodium streetlights, so that night skies record whiter and more natural.

The glass

Japanese optical glass with a 28-layer nano coating on both faces, scratch, water, oil and dust resistant. 68 g.

The limit

A sodium notch does little against white LED lighting, which is broadband and replacing sodium in many US cities.

What gets asked before buying

Will it fit my telescope?

No. It screws onto a 67 mm camera lens. For a telescope eyepiece, a 1.25 in filter such as the [SVBONY CLS](/accessories/light-pollution-filters-svbony/) is the equivalent.

Does it work against LED streetlights?

Mostly not. It blocks the narrow sodium band around 589 nm; white LEDs emit across the spectrum. Under sodium lighting, it helps a lot.

What does it do to colors?

K&F says it removes the warm cast of light pollution for truer colors and better white balance.
