Point and look

The StarPointer projects a red dot on a window you look through with both eyes open. The view is 1x, right side up and correct left to right, so the sky looks as it does to the naked eye.

Base and battery included

Celestron includes the mounting base and a CR2032 3 V battery. A telescope that has lost its finder can be fixed with this one box.

Brightness

A knob sets the dot’s brightness: dim to protect night vision, bright for daytime targets.

Beyond telescopes

Celestron says its small footprint fits almost any telescope, and it works on astronomical binoculars and spotting scopes too.

Price and availability

On November 7, 2026, Amazon.com sold it directly at $23.95. Celestron states a 2-year US warranty.

What gets asked before buying

Why a red dot instead of an optical finder?

It shows the sky at 1x, right side up and wide, so you point it the way you would point a finger. For faint targets, an optical finder such as a 9x50 shows more.

Does it fit non-Celestron telescopes?

It comes with its own mounting base and a small footprint; Celestron says it fits almost any telescope and works on binoculars and spotting scopes.

Can I use it in daylight?

Yes. Turn the brightness up to find land-based targets by day.
