Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi (S21110) review
Sky-Watcher's AZ-GTi: an 8.6 lb Wi-Fi GoTo alt-azimuth mount carrying 11 lb, with Freedom Find encoders, brass and aluminum gearing, a tripod from 28 to 53 inches and AA or 12 V power.
Sky-Watcher publishes both figures: the AZ-GTi weighs 8.6 lb and carries 11 lb. It fits in carry-on luggage and still takes a 4-inch refractor or a 5-inch Maksutov.
Wi-Fi control
The mount makes its own Wi-Fi network, and the SynScan Pro app on a phone or tablet aligns it, finds targets and tracks them. The same app runs time-lapse and panorama modes, with the SNAP port triggering the camera.
Freedom Find and metal gears
Dual encoders let it be pushed by hand without losing alignment. The gearing is brass and aluminum, all metal.
Twenty-eight to fifty-three inches
An aluminum tripod with a pier extension is included, taking the mount from 28 to 53 inches. The pier extension keeps a long tube clear of the legs when pointing high.
Power
A built-in AA battery compartment, and a 12 V input for an external supply.
Against the SkyMax 127 kit
The same mount is sold with Sky-Watcher’s 5-inch Maksutov as a complete kit. On November 7, 2026, the mount alone cost $439 and the kit $839.

What observers ask about this one
What fits on it?
Sky-Watcher rates it for 11 lb: most small refractors and Maksutovs, or a DSLR for time-lapse. It is sold with the SkyMax 127 as a [complete kit](/reviews/catadioptric-telescopes-sky-watcher/).
How is it powered?
From AA batteries in its built-in compartment, or from a 12 V input; Sky-Watcher mentions a cell-phone charger or similar source.
Can it photograph?
Time-lapse and panoramas, yes, through the SynScan Pro app and the SNAP port. Long deep-sky exposures show field rotation on an alt-azimuth mount.
