An EXOS II is built for tubes considerably heavier than a 90 mm refractor. A mount working well below its capacity damps quickly and tracks smoothly, and it leaves room for a camera, a guide scope or a heavier tube later.

At f/5.5 and 500 mm, the low-power view is wide. Large open clusters, the Milky Way, comets and wide double stars all suit it. The same geometry makes it a reasonable imaging platform for wide targets.

What does the mount add beyond pointing?
