The bottom line An inventive open-source tracking head sold as a component, with the one number that would size it left out.

What arrives, and what has to be found

A motorised equatorial head with a 38 mm quick-release plate underneath and a 1/4 in screw on top. No tripod, no ball head, no camera. The maker also states that the adapter bush between the 1/4 in shaft and a typical 3/8 in ball head base is a separate purchase — an honest note that saves a wasted first night.

The controller and the rates

An ESP32-S dual core on an open-source scheme, offering sidereal rate, lunar rate and a user-defined rate, with a switch between hemispheres. No application is needed: it runs when it is powered. For time-lapse work the custom rate is the feature that matters.

Power from a power bank

USB-C, with no internal cell. In cold weather that is an advantage — a flat power bank is replaced in seconds, where a built-in battery ends the session.

Payload. Every tracker is defined by how much it will carry and still track smoothly, and this listing never says. Until it is known, the safe approach is a light body and a short lens.
