Four published figures

The bore is the compatibility test

Fourteen point seven millimetres. That is a small shaft, matched to a light mount, and it is incompatible with everything heavier. Measuring the shaft before ordering is the whole of the compatibility check.

Why the diameter matters

Eighty millimetres across. On a small mount with a short tripod, a wide weight can catch a leg as the mount rotates past the meridian. Publishing the figure lets that be checked rather than discovered.

One kilogram as a fine adjustment

Balance is a matter of mass and distance along the shaft. A light weight far out balances a heavy one close in, and having a small weight available is what makes precise balance possible rather than approximate.

Availability

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 31 € to 38 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.
