Not a telescoping stool

It is a step stool: one height, thirty centimetres, folding flat. Every other stool on this shelf adjusts, and the adjustment is the point — a telescope’s eyepiece height changes with every target.

Where it does earn a place

A child at a tall eyepiece. A tabletop Dobsonian set on a garden table, where thirty centimetres happens to be right. And as the thing that gets stood on to reach a finder on a large telescope.
