The cheapest useful thing on this site

A rotating star chart. Set the date against the hour and the window shows what is above the horizon. It has no battery, no screen and nothing that can stop working, and at this price it costs less than a single eyepiece filter.

The planet pointer

A planisphere shows stars, which keep their relative positions. Planets move through them, so they cannot be printed on the disc. A planet pointer is the mechanism for adding them — typically an arm set against a scale or a table for the current year.
