Metal at a low price

Full metal and aluminium, which on this shelf usually costs several times more. Stiffness is what keeps a phone aligned through a focus adjustment, and it is the specification that separates a usable adapter from a frustrating one.

Padded where it touches

A rubber sleeve and EVA at the clamp. Metal against a phone marks it and metal against an eyepiece scratches the anodising; padding both interfaces is the right detail on an otherwise metal part.

The two ranges

Twenty-eight to forty-seven millimetres of eyepiece; sixty to a hundred millimetres of phone. That covers almost every standard eyepiece and almost every current handset, and both ends are published.

What is missing

Weight and dimensions. For an accessory that hangs off an eyepiece, the first would be genuinely useful, and neither appears.

Availability

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 7 € to 11 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.
