Two ranges, both published

Twenty-eight to forty-seven millimetres of eyepiece; fifty-four to ninety millimetres of phone. The first covers most telescope and spotting scope oculars; the second is the narrowest range on this shelf at both ends, which suits a small phone and excludes a large one.

Metal, and why that helps

A phone hanging off an eyepiece is a lever. Every focus adjustment nudges it, and a stiff frame returns to where it was while a flexible one does not. Metal is the single specification here that separates it from the cheaper clamps.

The narrow top end

Ninety millimetres. Current large handsets run past that, and the adapters here reaching 100 and 105 mm exist for exactly that reason. Measuring the phone before ordering settles it in a second.

The listing

Five bullets, two of them identical. What survives is the two ranges, the material and the fact that instructions are supplied.

Availability

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 16 € to 19 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon catalogue holds a record for it that nobody is selling.
