The direction is the thing to notice

Every other T-ring on this shelf converts the T2 thread to a modern camera bayonet. This one does the opposite: it lets T2 equipment be fitted to a camera body that already has an M42 screw mount. Reading it the wrong way round is the easiest mistake to make here.

Purely mechanical, and the maker says so

No contacts, no autofocus drive, no aperture control, manual focus only. For a telescope that changes nothing — a telescope has no electronic aperture and focuses with its own focuser — and for a photographic lens it changes a great deal.

The two M42s

The historic camera screw mount is M42 × 1.0; T2 is M42 × 0.75. They share a diameter and differ in pitch and in flange distance, and they will start on each other and bind. That distinction is exactly what this adapter navigates, and neither pitch is printed in the listing.

What it genuinely does

Bellows units, microscope adapters and telescopes with T2 threads, on a body that takes M42. That is a narrow and real set of situations, and the maker names all of them.

Availability

German, French and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 20 € to 28 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.

Italian Amazon store stood above 1.6× the cheapest country. A gap that size normally means stock forwarded from abroad rather than a seller on the ground, so that figure is left out of the range above.

American Amazon catalogue holds a record for it that nobody is selling.
