Dimensioned properly

Two hundred and thirty millimetres long. Two countersunk slots of 87.6 mm, 6.4 mm wide, taking M6 and 1/4 in screws. Three 3/8 in holes per slot at 35 mm spacing. Twenty 1/4 in holes at 20 mm spacing. That is more dimensional detail than anything else on this shelf publishes.

The scale markings

On both sides. Balance is a position along a bar, and a position that can be read off and written down is a position that does not have to be found again next time.

The safety screws, and the caveat

Four underneath, to stop the plate sliding out of an opened clamp. The maker adds that two must be removed to seat it in a Vixen saddle — an honest note, and one to remember, because it halves the protection.

The profile

Vixen, which is the narrow standard most small and medium mounts accept. It will not fit a saddle cut only for the wider profile.
