What it is and what it is not

A threaded ring. It holds a 1.25 in filter — M28.5 × 0.6 — inside a 2 in drawer aperture threaded M48 × 0.75. It is not a wheel, it is not a drawer, and it contains no optics.

The problem this removes

Most people accumulate 1.25 in filters first, then move to a 2 in imaging train. Without an adapter the existing filters are stranded and the obvious answer is buying a second drawer. This ring is the cheaper one.

The limit to watch

Clear aperture. A 1.25 in filter passes about 28 mm; beyond that the corners of a larger sensor fall outside the filter and darken. For planetary cameras that is irrelevant, and for a large imaging sensor it is decisive.

The listing’s own confusion

Its marketplace type field reads “Monocular”. That is reported here because it is what is published, and because it is a reminder that a category field is not a specification.

Availability

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores sat at about 42 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.
