Four colours, one of them relevant

White, blue, green and red. The white is the headline at 900 lumens; the blue is offered for map reading and forensic use; the green is aimed at hunting. The red is the one an observer wants, and it is described least.

What is missing for astronomy

A dimmer. This site’s advice pages judge a red torch on its lowest setting, and a mode with no adjustment sits wherever it was set at the factory. Nothing in this listing describes any brightness control at all.

What it does well

Zoom focus, an aluminium body, water and shock resistance, and four colours in one object. As a general torch for a car or a bag it is a reasonable proposition.

A note on green

A green beam is the standard way to point at a constellation, and it is also the fastest way to ruin everyone else’s dark adaptation at a star party. Knowing that before using it matters more than the lumen figure.

Availability

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 20 € to 23 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.

American Amazon store gave no result whatever, so the buy button there opens a search rather than an empty page.
