The switch layout is the astronomy feature

Upper switch: spot, flood, both, strobe. Lower switch: red, and a COB side light. That separation means the red mode is reached directly, without cycling through white modes — which is exactly how dark adaptation is usually lost.

Stepless dimming

Hold the power button and the brightness slides continuously. Applied to the red mode, that is the right mechanism: a fixed red level is either too bright for a chart or too dim to find a dropped cap.

The figures that hold up

A hundred and fifty-five grams. Over ten hours of runtime. Four to six hours to charge over USB-C. IP67. An LCD charge indicator quoted to one per cent. All of those are usable.

The figure that does not

A million lumens. That is not a plausible output for a torch of this size, and it is reported here exactly as printed. What is not printed is the red LED’s wavelength or its minimum output — the two figures an observer would actually want.

German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores ran from 32 € to 43 € on the day of the survey.

British Amazon store lists it in local currency, which the euro range above sets aside.

American Amazon store gave no result whatever, so the buy button there opens a search rather than an empty page.
