Material, not a filter

What arrives is a sheet. Turning it into a filter means building a cell that holds it flat, fits the tube securely and cannot be dislodged. That is a real piece of work, and the whole reason ready-mounted filters cost more.

The number that is absent

Optical density. A solar film is defined by how much it transmits, and this listing publishes no figure at all. Filters sold for use in front of an instrument and filters sold for the unaided eye differ precisely on that point, and nothing here distinguishes them.

The text is not this product’s

The five bullets appear word for word on at least two other listings on this shelf, sold by different names. Whatever is true of the material, those sentences were not written about this particular sheet.

What this page will not say

Whether it is safe to use. It reports what is published, notes what is not, and refers to the instructions supplied with the product for inspection, mounting and storage.
